For anyone who has experienced online dating, it can be a bit bleak, horrific even. BUT you hear of that one friend who actually met someone amazing and they actually got married and it totally worked out. Well, Corey and Betsy met online in October of 2022 and needless to say, it was a welcomed match. They enjoyed their first date on the evening of her 39th birthday. When she told her friends she was going to meet Corey in person off the Blue Ridge Parkway, their response was, “Well, if you don’t get murdered, you will definitely get a birthday kiss.” Betsy, trusting that Corey was indeed not an axe murderer, was very happy to meet him in person. She had a sneaking suspicion that he was a genius from their first date. Meanwhile, Corey was shocked that somehow she was even more attractive in person than her pictures after being Cat Fished a time or three.
Corey and Betsy enjoyed many dates and adventures together over the next (almost) year. Some highlights being: snorkeling in Key West, snowboarding in Colorado, road tripping through the canyons of Utah, roller skating in West Asheville and hiking many beautiful trails of Western North Carolina. They seem to enjoy so very many things about each other, especially feeling the love and support of true partnership. Life was so much sweeter together! Having similar birthdates they started planning an epic European vacation to celebrate turning 40.
On September 20th, Corey’s birthday, they spent the day exploring Verona, Italy. What appeared to be a spontaneous scavenger hunt put on by the city was actually an intricate proposal that Corey had been planning for months. Corey, being the enigma he is, had orchestrated a massive surprise including a professional photographer and local florist and baristas to play roles in the production of his designed proposal. The scavenger hunt was filled with subtle clues that all pertained to their dating history highlights over the last year. Each clue was printed on an envelope that was sealed with the instruction “Do Not Open Yet”. As the couple worked their way through the beautiful city, Betsy was ultimately sent off alone to the garden of Juliet, yes of Romeo & Juliet, where she found her final clue. This envelope was different and now had the instruction to open them to reveal what had been hidden inside them the whole time. She was delighted to find that the city of Verona had not put on the scavenger hunt but instead it was all the mastermind of Corey. She discovered 48 separate love notes that correlated with the 48 weeks they had been dating; one written to her every week since he had known her. Corey, traveling for a living, had collected each postcard from all 48 continental states. There was even a picture of them from that very first date off of the Parkway. Was this real life, was this a RomCom, what a surprise!?! Betsy was then led to a beautiful botanical garden where Corey was waiting with a ring on one knee to ask her to be his wife. She said “Yes!” of course which is why you have been invited to this website and their reception.
We are thrilled to celebrate with friends and family this October. Thank you for celebrating us and cheering us on. Some say, Right place, Right time…..we say Right Swipe, Right Time! (Online dating joke for those who don’t get it).
